Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: U.S. Marines Corps; 7th Geodetic Control Squadron. General description of the collection: The Carl I. Aslakson photograph collection consists of series of photos concerning his life and military career. There are photos of his undergraduate activities at South Dakota State College, ca. 1910, and a series of scenes on the Mexican border with the 4th South Dakota Infantry in 1916. His service in the U.S. Marines during WWII as an enlisted man and lieutenant primarily in Cuba is covered photographically. His album features a series of photos of coastal waterways from the Chesapeake Bay to Florida in the mid-1920s. A series of eighteen photos illustrates Lieutenant Aslakson's army service in Brazil in 1941. Another series shows scenes on the Burma Road during WWII. Photos also represent the period of his command of the 7th Geodetic Control Squadron, ca. 1946, and scenes in the Alaska back country in 1948.
